Our mission is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. 

The Parkview Library Media Center Hours:  7:30 a.m. -  3:15 p.m.
Materials
  • 10,984 Items
  • 6439 Fiction Books (average age 1992)
  • 4517 Nonfiction/Reference items (average age 1992)
  • 11 Electronic Subscription Databases (encyclopedia, periodicals, etc.)       
  • Access the Online Databases from home or another remote site, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Contact the Parkview Library Media Center to obtain the user login and password.

Policies
  • Checkout
    Students may check out books at any time before, during or after school. Books are checked out for 10 school days and may be renewed for an additional 10 day period.
  • Overdues
    Overdue books are assessed .05 fine per book per school day. Notices are printed and delivered to classroom reading teachers on Mondays. Lost or damaged books will be charged to the borrower.
  • Conduct in the Library
    Students are expected to have their student ID and a pass or agenda signed by a teacher when they arrive at the library. Students are to act in a respectful and courteous manner while they are in the library.

    Students may access the online databases from the Parkview website. These are all safe and reliable electronic resources.

     

    Students may NOT conduct internet searches using any of the search engines and indexes including Google, Ask.com, and Yahoo, unless under the direct supervision of school staff.

     

    Students may go to websites that have been previewed by their classroom teacher where the exact web address (url) is given

  • Digital still cameras for staff or student checkout

  • Digital audio recorders for staff checkout

Facilities
  • The Parkview Middle School Library Media Center is located near the front entrance of the school. In addition to books, it features a computer lab, two mobile labs, seating areas able to accommodate three classes of 32 students, a graphic novel reading area, a magazine reading area, a teacher work area, and 18 computer search stations. A new addition in the fall of 2006 greatly expanded seating capacity. Information Literacy Curriculum
  • Parkview Middle School Library Media Curriculum....

    The Ankeny Community School District is currently in the process of revising its school library media curriculum. District teacher librarians have been attending state regional workshops and local district sessions in order to develop an articulated K-12 school library media program.
